TULSA — The Tulsa Hurricane are still alive in the postseason.
Led by Ben Uzoh’s 22 points, Tulsa downed the Utah Utes 69-60 at the Reynolds Center in the second round of inaugural CBI men’s basketball tournament.
Tulsa improved to 22-13 and Utah ended the season at 18-15.
Uzoh made 11 of 14 free throws and Jerome Jordan, Tulsa’s 7-foot sophomore center, added 12 points. Six-foot-7 Calvin Walls had a team-high nine rebounds for the Hurricane.
Tulsa built a 35-20 halftime lead, mainly by making all 17 of its first-half free-throw attempts but also by limiting the Utes (18-15) to 26 percent shooting (6-for-23).
Johnnie Bryant led Utah with 19 poitns and 7-1 junior center Luke Nevill had 12 points and nine rebounds.
Tulsa and Houston clash at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the semifinals.
In the other CBI games, Virginia (17-15) beat Old Dominion (18-16) 80-76, Bradley (19-15) downed Ohio (20-13) 79-73 and Houston (24-9) beat Valaparaiso (22-14) 91-67.
Bradley plays at Virginia at 6 p.m.
