Stifling defense pushed the Bacone Lady Warriors past Langston 52-36 Thursday night at the Palmer Center.
The Lady Warriors held the Lady Lions attack to 19 percent shooting (11-of-58) and forced 22 turnovers. For the game Bacone hit 37 percent (17-of-45) and was 15-of-24 at the charity stripe.
Destinee Duncan led Bacone with 10 points. Langston guard and Oktaha grad Whitney Brown finished with nine points on three of 13 shooting.
Bacone (6-14, 4-11) faces Southwest in Hobbs, N.M. on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
On the men’s side, the Warriors battled tough for most of the way but eventually the Langston got rolling, defeating Bacone 70-50. Tied at 44-44 with 7:08 remaining the Lions went on a 13-3 run to lead 60-47 with 3:05 remaining to seize the momentum.
Creed Flowers led Bacone with 18 points.
Bacone (3-19, 1-14) plays Southwest at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
