Prep fastpitch softball

TAHLEQUAH 9, PRYOR 0 —
Britney Johnson, Morgan Torrance and Lindsey Wade combined on a two-hitter as the Lady Tigers won the District 5A-3 game at Pryor on Tuesday.

Johnson struck out four in three inning pitched, while Tarrance pitched three and Wade worked the last inning.

Johnson had two hits in three at-bats, while Marissa Girdner, Kirsten  Chase, Whitney Wright and Kourtney Dry had two hits in four trips to the plate. Randee O’Donnell slugged her seventh home run of the season and Haylee Martin hit her first. Chase drove in two runs.

The Lady Tigers, 18-2 overall, 7-1 in district 5A-3, and No. 1 in the Okrankings.com Class 5A poll, plays Panama, Tulsa Washington and Vinita at the Coweta Tournament on Thursday.

FORT GIBSON SWEEPS THREE-WAY  –  Playing at Park Hill, the Lady Tigers’ (16-5) Madison Higley put on a pitching exhibition in the two games that featured Keys and Oologah, No. 2 team in the Okrankings.com Class 4A poll.

In the first game, Fort GIbson beat Keys, 3-0. Higley pitched her second perfect game of the season and struck out 14 batters. The Lady Tigers got two hits and a run from both Sage Stout and Emilee Rigsby.

In the second game, HIgley (16-4) struck out seven and tossed another shutout in beating Oologah 1-0. Oologah had a chance to answer back in the third with a lead-off triple but Higley retired the next three batters.

Stout went 2-for-3 and scored the lone run while Miranda Cherry went 1-for-3 with the winning RBI.

OKTAHA 1, VIAN 0 –  The Lady Tigers won this one with defense, scoring in the top of the fifth inning limiting Vian’s (9-13) chances to score as the Lady Wolverines never advanced to second base.

Jaden Bolin (9-11) took the loss, giving up three hits while striking out three and Kiley Troutman had two hits.

STILWELL 2, SEQUOYAH 1 –  After compiling a 4-1-1 record in the Erie, Colo., Tournament of Champions Sequoyah (19-6) returned home to fall to Stilwell.

Megan Towie scored the lone run and Jessica Bluebird (16-9) took the loss while allowing seven hits and striking out three.





Prep volleyball

OKAY 3, LINCOLN CHRISTIAN 2 – 
The Lady Mustangs (17-3) defeated defending Class 4A state champion in a late match rally, winning the fourth and fifth sets, 25-21 and 17-15, respectively. Okay won the first set 25-22 and lost the second (25-14) and third (25-23) sets.

Okay was led by a trio of 20-dig performances coming from Lindsey Allen, Brooke Long, and Courtney Smith.  Allen added three aces, Long had eight kills and Smith had seven kills to their dig totals.

Bristen Graves finished with 15 kills.



College women’s soccer

SOUTHERN NAZARENE 3, BACONE  0 –
Three second-half goals by Southern Nazarene  were too much for Bacone to overcome at Love-Hatbox Field.

SNU outshot the Lady Warriors were outshot 19-6 and 8-2 in shots on goal. Goalie Kyrie Stump notched five saves.



College volleyball

OKLAHOMA 3, ARKANSAS 1 –
Three Oklahoma players combined for a four-set match school record eight service aces as the Lady Sooners volleyball team topped the Arkansas Lady Razorbacks at Barnhill Arena on Tuesday.

Tara Dunn, Julia Doyle and Kiela Rodriguez combined for the aces with Dunn and Doyle getting three each. Morgan Reynolds and Sallie McLaurin had 13 and 11 kills, respectively, as the Lady Sooners improved to 6-2 for the season.

Jasmine Norton had 19 kills and 12 digs for her fifth double-double for the season for Arkansas. Raymariely Santos had 43 assists and 11 digs, while Emily Helm had 14 digs. The Lady Razorbacks dropped to 6-2 for the season.
