NSU tennis player gets MIAA honor
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northeastern State freshman Kristina Savchenkov was named the MIAA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Savchenkov has posted a perfect 10-0 record against Division II opponents, with her most high-profile singles victory coming over No. 12 Natalia Kozel of Drury (6-4, 3-6, 6-4) Her and senior doubles partner Ivana Belejova also defeated the No. 22-ranked Camila Quesada and Alexis Bartek of Northwest Missouri State 9-8 (7-5). NSU is 6-1 on the season going into Friday’s match against Tarleton State.
RiverHawks golf ties for fifth
SAN ANTONIO, Texas- The Northeastern State women’s golf team finished tied for fifth Tuesday at the Lady Rattler Round-Up hosted by St. Mary’s at The Dominion Country Club.
The RiverHawks (633, 317-316) ended the tournament tied with Midwestern who shot 633 (319-314). Finishing fourth was Oklahoma Christian (628), followed by Dallas Baptist in third (622), St. Edwards in second (613) and Tarleton State took first (596).
Whitney McAteer led NSU with a card of 156 (79-77) and tied in 12th place.Alex Koch placed 18th with a score of 157 (79-78). Kelsey Kirkpatrick tied for 25th with a card of 159 (76-83) on the day.
