Porum boy crowned champ at rodeo

FORT WORTH, Texas — Porum’s Cannon Cravens was crowned a world champion Saturday night at the Youth Bull Riding World Finals at the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum.

Cravens rode four bucking calves for a total of 282 points to win the YBRWF World Championship Calf Riding title.

Cannon, 9, has been riding since he was 3, and said of his 8 second ride, “It was good, I got up on him and tried real hard to stay in the center”.

Cannon practices at home on a bucking barrel and has already won 24 trophy buckles in his short career. He represents the Oklahoma Junior Bull Riding Association. Cravens won $1,145 and a buckle for his final winning round. Cannon is the son of Kuilla Drake and Michael Cravens.
