— Prep baseball

BRAGGS 8, CLAYTON 0 —In the opening round of the Whitesboro Tournament, Wyatt Lewis (2-0) allowed one hit and struck out 10 in a six-inning complete game victory. Cory York a two-run triple, Tatem Livingston a two-run single, Cody Grant had an RBI single and Juan Diaz had a single. The Wildcats (11-5) play in the semifinals at 3 p.m. against the Eagletown-Red Oak JV winner.

WAGONER  WINS FINAL TUNE-UP— The Wagoner Bulldogs defeated Pryor in their last scrimmage before the season begins. The Bulldogs scored on three possessions and the defense held the Tigers scoreless.

Prince McJunkins connected with Malcolm Love on a 15-yard pass for the first score of the night for the Bulldogs, McJunkins then threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Robinson on their next possession, Jeremy Applegate scored on a 72-yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs' final score.

The Bulldogs' defense only got tested in the red zone one time all night after a 52-yard run, Kevin Peterson intercepted the ball in the end zone seven plays later.

Wagoner opens up the season next Friday against Coweta at home.



Prep fastpitch softball

MUSKOGEE SPLITS — The Muskogee Rougherettes split a doubleheader at home against Sapulpa.

In the first game, Laura Fleck pitched a complete game striking out seven as Muskogee  won 7-6. Tori Venable was 2-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI, Paige Gann had an RBI triple, Jessi Venable had an RBI double, and Fleck had three hits and a stolen base.

Sapulpa then defeated Muskogee 7-6. Gann pitched six innings allowing one earned run on five hits and striking out five in the loss. She also had a RBI double. Julia Meeham hit her first home run of the year, a two-run shot in the second inning. Coco Epps was 3-for-3 with one RBI, and Jessi Venable had one RBI.

“ Offensively we swung the bats better than we have the last couple of weeks, our defense is what hurt us," MHS coach Keith Coleman said, concerning six errors in the second game.

Muskogee (5-7) plays at 5 p.m. today at Fort Gibson.

SEQUOYAH 2, FORT GIBSON 0 — Shannon Barnett, Megan Chewey, and Jessica Bluebird combined to hold the Lady Tigers to two hits as the Sequoyah Lady Indians picked up the victory.

The Lady Indians scored both runs in the fifth inning, Saharra Henson and Trinity Busby both drew walks and advanced on a passed ball. Megan Towie then hit into a fielders choice to drive in Henson, and Summer Cunningham hit a RBI single to bring in Henson.

The Lady Indians (14-5) play in the Hall of Fame Shootout at 5:30 p.m. against Rush Springs and 8 p.m. against Washington.

OKTAHA TOURNAMENT —  After pool play Thursday, Tahlequah and Keys each led

their pools with 3-0 records. The Tahlequah Lady Tigers beat Stigler 11-1, Vian 10-2, and Porter 18-0. The Keys Lady Cougars defeated Stigler 10-3, Wagoner 9-7, and Muldrow 2-1.  Oktaha split two games defeating Webbers Falls 11-0, before losing to Stilwell 7-5. Wagoner, Vian, and Porter each went 1-2 in the tournament.

Stilwell plays Tahlequah, and Keys battles Heavener in semifinal games at 10 a.m. Saturday. Oktaha plays Muldrow at 11:30 a.m. in the second place game. Webbers Falls plays Vian, and Wagoner plays Locust Grove in the third place games at 1 p.m. The two semifinal winners from earlier in the day will then play at 2:30 p.m. in the championship game.

WARNER WINS DOUBLEHEADER — Macey Carman pitched a perfect game, striking out seven and Brooke Stidham drove in three RBI’s as the Warner Lady Eagles defeated Braggs 9-0.  In the second game, Carman pitched another complete game striking out three  as Warner defeated Hulbert 9-1. Stidham was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Jori McPeak was 1-for-3 with three RBIs.

Warner (7-4) plays Monday at Keys.



Prep volleyball

PUTNAM CITY WEST 3, MUSKOGEE 0  — The Lady Rougherettes won three straight sets to defeat Putnam City West on the road. Alex Hames had 14 kills and three blocks, Alexus Wilson 10 kills and seven service aces, Sarah Scott had 25 assists and Taylor Sipes six digs.

Muskogee (3-9) plays at Union Tuesday.

OKAY 3, CLAREMORE 2 — Okay won the match after winning the last two sets to defeat Claremore at home. Bristen Graves had 16 kills and four blocks, Brittany Adams had eight kills, Miesha Gordan and Sydney Dehnhardt had four kills each.

Okay (7-2) hosts Sequoyah Monday at 5 p.m.



College volleyball

BACONE LOSES OPENER — The Bacone Lady Warriors lost three straight sets in their season opener to the University of Saint Thomas. Phelecia Jones had six kills, Aissha Colbert had four  kills, Daisy Rios had nine digs, and Serina Diaz had six digs and 17 set assists.

Bacone plays today at 11 a.m. against Saint Gregorys University and 7 p.m. against Haskell Indian Nations University at 7 p.m. in the Warrior Challenge.
