Northeastern State golfer Whitney McAteer qualified in a tie for fourth at the 94th Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur championship at Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City on Monday.
McAteer, the two-time defending champion in the event, shot a 2-over 74 on the 7,240-yard layout and tied June Tigert and Amber Hensley. McAteer will face Leigh Anne Fore of Tulsa in her round of 16 match in the Championship flight today.
Catrina Pearson of Muskogee High School and Kailey Campbell of Oktaha High School finished in a tie for 16th with an 11-over 83 and lost in a playoff for the final spot in the Championship flight. Both advanced to the President’s round of 16 with Pearson meeting Jennifer Aleman of Norman while Campbell meets Elizabeth Langford of Oklahoma City.
