NORMAN — Former Muskogee Rougher Stacy McGee was arrested early Monday morning and charged with a suspended license and driving under the influence, according to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office.
The Oklahoma Sooners’ senior defensive tackle’s status for the Cotton Bowl Classic was unclear. An OU spokesman said coach Bob Stoops is aware of McGee’s arrest, but won’t decide his bowl fate until he gathers more information.
McGee missed this season’s first six games while serving a suspension for an undisclosed violation of team rules. He returned for the Sooners’ 30-13 loss to Notre Dame on Oct. 27, and has played in every game since, recording 14 total tackles and one sack.
He was also suspended for the 2011 season opener after being cited for marijuana possession months earlier. McGee went on to appear in the remaining 12 games of his junior year, recording 22 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
McGee was the 2007 All-Phoenix Defensive Tackle of the Year.
