Oklahoma picked up another verbal pledge for its 2013 recruiting class with the addition of Houston Taylor defensive end Ogbonnia Okoronkwo.
Rivals.com was the first to report Okoronkwo had committed to the Sooners on Wednesday. It was a switch for him. He had previously committed to Oklahoma State in June.
He becomes the first player to flip his commitment from OSU to OU since cornerback Demontre Hurst in 2009.
Okoronkwo is OU’s 15th commitment and third defensive end in the 2013 recruiting class. He joins Southmoore’s D.J. Ward and Katy (Texas) High School’s Matt Dimon (6-2, 252).
Okoronkwo is Rivals’ 80th best player in Texas and the No. 28 defensive end in the country.
All verbal commitments are non-binding. Players cannot sign letters of intent until Feb. 6.
