NORMAN — Led by Nicole Griffin's 23 points, the Oklahoma women's basketball team defeat Oklahoma Christian 118-53 Thursday at Lloyd Noble Center in the Sooners' opening exhibition game of the season.
Five Sooners scored in double-figures led by Griffin who went 8 for 9 from the field and 7 for 8 from the free throw line. Morgan Hook added 18 points, nine assists and four rebounds while Portia Durrett had 16 points and six rebounds.
Up 12-8 early in the first half, Oklahoma went on a 20-0 run to take a 32-8 lead after a layup by Durrett, one of seven Sooners to score during the run.
Oklahoma went into the half up 51-23 led by Griffin's 13 points on perfect 5 for 5 shooting from the field and 3 for 3 from the stripe. In the first half, OU shot 59.5 percent to the Eagles' 22.6 percent.
OU continued to pull away in the second half, hitting the 100-point mark with seven minutes still left in the game as a 22-4 run pushed OU's lead to 101-42.
The Sooners shot 12 of 30 from the 3-point line and 22 of 28 from the free throw line.
