STILLWATER – Oklahoma State track and field athletes Nick Miller and Kirubel Erassa will compete at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona next week.
Officials said Friday Miller will represent his native Great Britain in the men’s hammer throw on July 13 and July 14 and Erassa will compete for the U.S. team in the men’s 5,000-meter run on July 14.
Miller tops the Great Britain Under-20 rankings by more than four meters over his nearest competitor with his throw of 72.80 meters/238-10. It was the third-best throw in British athletics history for his age, and earned him qualification for Barcelona.
Erassa earned his spot on the team after winning the U.S. junior national championship in Bloomington, Ind., on June 15.
