Oklahoma secured two commitments on Thursday when Edmond Memorial guard Jordan Woodard announced he would sign. Class of 2014 center Jacob Hammond also announced he will sign with the Sooners.
Woodard averaged 13 points and five assists for the Bulldogs last season. His verbal marks the first major in-state commitment picked up for OU coach Lon Kruger. Woodard is one of the best players in the state. Tulsa Washington guard Juwan Parker announced he will sign with Georgia earlier this week. Highly touted point guard Stevie Clark received an offer from the Sooners, but his decision to transfer from Oklahoma City Douglas to a prep school in Las Vegas signaled he was looking for bigger offers.
Woodard (6-foot) is a three-star recruit, according to Rivals.com and is ranked as the No. 122 player nationally.
Woodward is the only player currently committed to the Sooners’ 2013 recruiting class. The early signing period for college basketball is Nov. 14. All verbal commitments are non-binding.
Hammond’s commitment was first reported by OUhoops.com. The Duncan native currently plays for the Oklahoma City Storm homeschool team. The junior will eligible to sign in November of 2013
