Oklahoma State guard Lane Taylor, Oklahoma guard Gabe Ikard and center Ben Habern and Arkansas guard Alvin Bailey and center Travis Swanson on the 2012 Outland Trophy watch list to recognize the top interior lineman in college football.
Taylor has 36 career starts and didn’t allow a sack last season. Ikard started all 13 games or the Sooners last season, playing at left guard for six and at center for seven games. He led all OU interior linemen in blocking grades. Habern has 30 starts and named to the Rimington Trophy watch list earlier.
Bailey and Swanson each have started 26 games for the Razorbacks.
In other news, OU defensive back Demontre Hurst, defensive Tony Jefferson and Tom Wort along with Tulsa’s Dexter McCoil have been named to the 2012 Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list. The award goes to the nation’s best defensive player.
Hurst had 13 starts in 2011 with 55 tackles and 11 pass breakups. Jefferson was a freshman All-America selection in 2010 and had a team-high four interceptions with 74 tackles in 2011. Wort started 12 games last season and made 71 tackles and 3 1/.2 sacks, two interceptions, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
Tulsa’s McCoil has played in 37 games and started 30 for the Golden Hurricane. He has 225 career tackles with 16 pass breakups and 13 interceptions.
