No. 13 Oklahoma 71,

North Texas 68

NORMAN — OU won the game but might have lost something more valuable.

Whitney Hand, the squad’s fifth-year on-court leader, spiritual leader and the most indispensable player on the team since Danielle Robinson left for the WNBA, left the floor with about two minutes remaining in the first half after her left knee buckled as she planted for a shot. She’s already missed 1 1/2 seasons due to a torn ACL in her right knee and two surgeries on it.

Hand left the arena for an MRI on the knee as the game played on. If she is out for the season, OU would appear to be in a position of facing down the season with eight healthy bodies.

Already OU had lost posts Lyndsey Cloman (back) and Kaylon Williams (ruptured Achilles tendon) in the preseason. Freshman guard Maddie Manning, three games after entering the starting lineup, tore the ACL in her right knee in practice just this week.

Nicole Griffin had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead Oklahoma. She scored only three points in the first half but set the tone after the break, going 9 for 10 from the free throw line — eight of which she made in the second half.

STILLWATER — Shooting nearly 50 percent for the game (30-of-65, 46.2 percent), the Cowgirls moved to 7-0 on the year behind a pair of double-doubles. Toni Young led all scorers with 20 points and added 12 rebounds, Liz Donahoe had 15 points and 14 rebounds. Lindsey Keller and Morgan Toben had 16 points and 10 points, respectively.

The lead changed six times in the early minutes of the game, with the Ladyjacks leading 8-7 at 12:57, but the Cowgirls went on a 20-0 run and would lead 35-14 at halftime.

The Ladyjacks (4-4) shot 25.5 percent and were outrebounded 49-27.

Arkansas 64,

No. 17 Kansas 56

Sequoyah High grad Angel Goodrich scored a game-high 21 points for KU, including five 3-pointers, but it wasn’t enough to avoid the upset at Fayetteville, Ark. Goodrich also had six assists and four steals.

Quistelle Williams scored 15 points, Keira Peak tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds
