CONNORS STATE 4, MURRAY STATE 2 — Connors State (19-1) won their 17th straight after downing Murray State. Back-to-back doubles by Yarel Rodriguez and Eli Roundtree tied the game at 1 in the fourth. Erick Kirkpatrick’s first home run of the season pushed the lead to 3-1 and in the fifth, Christian Perez’ double accounted for a run. Jordan Romani (3-0) threw five innings with seven strickouts, allowing two hits. Josh Hamel struck out six and gave up one hit in getting the save.

OKLAHOMA 1, NORTHWESTERN (LA.) 0 — Matt Oberste homered and Jonathan Gray fanned a career-high 12 and allowed five hits for the Sooners (15-4), who have three shutouts in the last five games. Gray (4-1) has not allowed a run in 16 innings.

CAL STATE FULLERTON 5, ORAL ROBERTS 0 — ORU matched Fullerton in hits at 6 but fell to 5-11 on the season with the home loss. Thomas Shelman (4-1) gave up six hits in 6 1/3 innings. Nate Goro had a 3-for-3 day for the Golden Eagles.

OKLAHOMA STATE 9, IONA 0 — Jason Hursh racked up a complete game shutout striking out 10 and allowing four hits. The Cowboys (14-3) collected 15 hits on the night, and every hitter in the Cowboys’ starting lineup collected at least one hit, with Randy McCurry’s 3-for-4 outing leading the way. The two teams return to action Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

OLE MISS 7, ARKANSAS 1 — Preston Overbey homered and drove in four runs, while Ole Miss starter Bobby Wahl worked seven strong innings as the eighth-ranked Rebels downed No. 15 Arkansas (13-6, 0-1)  in the Southeastern Conference opener on Friday night at Baum Stadium. Offensively, Jacob Mahan, Tyler Spoon and Matt Vinson each had one hit for the Razorbacks.

POTEETE SLUGS HOMER — Hilldale High School graduate Jarrard Poteete, batting fifth in the batting order as the designated hitter, hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning in Texas Tech’s 1-0 win over Texas in Big 12 Conference action Friday night.
