THE PEOPLE SPEAK — If postal service wants more money, improve

Our U.S. Post Office carriers are really doing a job. They want more for stamps and cut service on Saturdays. They want to work further hours and smaller routes. All this, and they want the people to pay more for this.

Well why do we have them at all? I have to, and many other neighbors have to run mail all over our neighborhood just to get the right mail to the right people. It’s a good thing that we all know each other. Just today (Aug. 11) I had to run mail to the post office, for they gave me the wrong mail. Oh the mail person covered it up real well. They put it between my mail so they can say it got mixed up with his.

One was a cutoff from the water department. Not much I could do but take it to the mail box downtown for a re-mail at 6 p.m. — oh, that’s when I get my mail. I did get it at 7 a.m. then noon, then 3 p.m. and now at 6 or 7 p.m. and on some days noon; maybe 3 p.m. or 6 p.m. I guess I’ll never get it right. When we pay this high dollar to people that think we owe them, they believe they can do whatever.

I know of five people who would love that job —  and do one heck of a job. Don’t you think it’s about time you postmasters get off your --- and go out and see the job your workers are doing. And if they are doing something else like talking on the phone, eating on the job or hiding from you, then they need to find another job.

I really don’t mind paying a little more, but make it worth my money.
