I come from a long line of “Okies from Muskogee.” My dad, oldest brother and myself all graduated from Old Central. My dad graduated in 1933 after returning from World War II, my oldest brother in 1959 and myself in 1966.
My other brother was Bobby Lee Sallie. One day he was pitching a baseball game and got hit in the temple by a line drive. He died two days later.
In his honor the city of Muskogee changed the name of Robinson Park to Sallie Park. I guess after half a century people forget. Bobby didn’t leave any money for the city or the parks, he was only 12.
