THE PEOPLE SPEAK — School analogy shows dysfunction 03.13.13

— In an elementary school in the east, two fourth-grade boys competed for attention. In the school officer election, Barry was elected president. Johnny was elected leader of his homeroom called “Representatives.” Johnny had not supported Barry’s election as president, favoring another boy, Willard, who lost to Barry.

As president, Barry suggested several projects to improve the school. Johnny set out to block and oppose anything Barry suggested. Johnny had two friends in another homeroom called “Kentucky.” Their names were Mitchie and Randy. These two had worked to prevent Barry’s re-election, but didn’t succeed. They were obligated to listen carefully to a homeroom called “Tea” in order to keep their offices.

These three homeroom officers, Johnny, Mitchie, and Randy, would often confer on ways to obstruct Barry’s suggestions. Frequently, the threesome would have an idea, but when Barry approved of it, the three would change their mind and oppose it, because it was Barry’s idea, and therefore no good. Even if Barry’s suggestion might enhance their school, the threesome determined to block it. That elementary school had initially been called “Government,” but it had to be renamed “Obstruction Junction.” Thus ends the analogy.

You get what you give

in regards to respect

It’s funny how some people think the racist Republicans in this country disrespect President Obama. Weren’t these the same people who treated the last President Bush like dirt? And yes he served two terms also.

I have no love for either and believe history will see both as very mediocre. One got us into two unnecessary wars and the other will be remembered as the great divider. Respect? You get what you give. At least Bush could fly an F16, what can Obama do, write a couple books about himself?
