Habitat for Humanity provides an opportunity for those who are struggling to own a home.
Habitat offers those who qualify a chance to buy a home at a substantially reduced rate — an affordable monthly payment.
The highest Habitat mortgage is $42,500. At a zero-interest rate mortgage, financed for 20 years, the average homeowner payment with insurance and escrow included is less than $300 per month.
Habitat will hold a meeting for potential homeowners at 5 p.m. Tuesday at 2001 W. Okmulgee Ave.
Applicants must pick up and fill out an application and bring it to the meeting.
Applicants:
• Must have lived in Muskogee for at least one year;
• Be income-qualified;
• Must help build their homes; and
• Are required to put in 300 hours of sweat-equity helping build habitat homes.
“It’s not hard at all, and yes, you should do it,” said Tiara Winston, a Habitat homeowner. “Even if you don’t know whether you qualify, you should apply. It’s a great starting point for your family that puts you in a position to grow and to save. It’s wonderful.”
Homeownership brings many benefits to families and Muskogee.
Habitat makes homeownership possible for more people.
