Today offers a reminder of our faith

Tragedies such as the slaying of 20 elementary school children in Newtown, Conn., are difficult to process.

There is no satisfactory cause, reason, excuse that will comfort us.

Sometimes we must be able to comprehend the incomprehensible in order to remain sane.

Today is an important day for all Christians.

It is the celebration of the birth of their savior, Jesus Christ.

Christians have much in common with those who worship in other religions and with those that do not worship at all.

We all must have some form of faith to get us through the tough times.

We all must believe in something.

Whether it is your Lord and Savior or a profound faith in family, friends or even mankind, we must all have faith.

Belief is easy when we are confronted with facts based on things that are easy to see and feel.

But, faith has to come from somewhere deep inside us.

Faith is the belief in things unseen or not easily proven.

We all practice that kind of faith.

We all need to rely on that faith today.

We must be able to communicate with each other in a way that displays that faith.

We will never completely understand the Newtown shootings.

But, we must fight to maintain our faith in something greater than ourselves.

It is that faith that will get us through these tragedies and make us strong enough to fight to find a way to ensure they never happen again.
