Two schools plan to join forces ... and facilities.
Good idea.
Connors State College has a campus within yards of the Indian Capital Technology Center campus in Muskogee.
CSC and ICTC plan to join allied health/nursing facilities on their North 41st Street campuses.
“The two buildings will be connected by a walkway, but more importantly, they’ll be connected by programs for students,” Connors President Dr. Tim Faltyn said.
If the Oklahoma A&M Board of Regents approves, construction on the Connors building could begin this spring.
The health care industry needs nurses and health technicians.
Indian Capital Technology Center has been teaching nursing since 1958. Connors State College has offered a nursing degree program since 1984.
Both facilities have experience and a reputation for quality training in health care fields.
Joining facilities is a “win-win mix,” ICTC Superintendent Tom Stiles said.
“This will allow our campuses to share facilities and, at some point, share instructional staffs,” Stiles said. “By sharing our resources, we can do more for less.”
The plan is even more attractive because a new administration center for ICTC would be built by ICTC building construction students.
The old facility, also built by students, will be removed for the project. Building students will gain experience as the school gains a new admin center.
The joint project is a very good idea.
