THE PEOPLE SPEAK – Support team and coach, win or lose

This is in response to S.R. Fuller’s letter to the opinion section. The mere fact that you would even question Coach Blankenship’s ability to relate to any of the boys on his football team shows you are just a outsider with a uneducated opinion.

I have first hand witnessed Coach Blankenship working with these boys and can promise you he is a man of character and goes out of his way to relate and understand every player on his team. Coach Blankenship understands as a coach not only is he building a team but he is building young men and teaching them life lessons that will be very valuable after their football careers are over. What this team needs is the support of the community, and I will bet Mr. Fuller was one of the many sitting at home on Friday nights and reading about the game the next day in the paper instead of showing up and supporting these young men who are representing the school and the community. To be a true football town you have to support win or lose.

The great Paul Bear Bryant once said “Show class, have pride and display character, winning takes care of itself.” Now is the time to show class and display pride in this program and help them get back where you want them instead of slamming them until they start winning and then show up to cheer. Coach Blankenship is a great addition to the school, football program, and the young men who play this great game.
