We have taken AIM, let’s fire

Action in Muskogee has given us a chance to look at our city to decide what kind of community we want Muskogee to be.

We have had the opportunity to AIM. Now it is time to put those ideas into action. We’ve taken AIM, now let’s fire.

The targets set through AIM must be achieved through the work of community members who volunteer in the specific goal areas set.

The group calls the volunteers “champions.”

More than 100 people already have volunteered to champion the causes, said Ann Barker Ong, steering committee member.

That is a good start, but many more are needed.

The champions, led by chairmen and chairwomen for each area, will research suggestions and meet with the steering committee before asking for any funding or before changing directions if the ideas aren’t feasible.

The steering committee has yet to select leaders for the following initiatives:

• Educational Excellence.

• Great Place to Live.

• Health and Wellness.

• Community Infrastructure.

These key initiatives must have good leaders.

Muskogee needs champions.

AIM needs you.

Volunteer. If you have interest in a particular area, if there is something you love about this city, if there is something you really want to change about Muskogee – step up.

We have put our eye on the target. We have taken AIM. Muskogee needs you to hit the target of making this city what we know it can be.
