Rosetta Register was born November 28th, 1914 in Kilgore, TX to Edmond and Maggie Johnson Register. She was the youngest of ten children born to this union. She attended grade school in Kilgore and graduated from high school at Butler College in Tyler, TX. She met and married Mr. L.C. Greer and four children were born to this union. Naomi Greer, LoDean Greer-Redo and Mary Turley Froniabarger preceded her in death. Cora Lee Reed is her only living child. She moved to Muskogee, OK, where she met and married Rev. Earnest Clifford Ryan and to this union a son, Earnest Clifford Ryan, Jr. was born. Both husband and son preceded her in death. Professing a love for the Lord at a young age, she became an active, faithful member of Ward Chapel AME Church until her health began to fail. She sang in the choir, was Missionary President and a trustee. In addition to her church duties, Rosetta worked as a licensed beautician for Malissa Howard’s Beauty Shop. She was the first black LPN to be employed at Muskogee General Hospital. Rosetta was also an established business woman. She was the owner of Grade A Dairy, R & G Cattle Ranch and was a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant.
On Sunday afternoon, November 1st, 2009, Rosetta was called home to glory. She was preceded in death by her parents, three daughters, Naomi LoDean and Mary. Son, Earnest and beloved husband Rev Earnest Clifford Ryan, Sr. and nine siblings.
The family she leaves behind to cherish their fond memories of her include her daughter, Cora Lee Reed, Plano, TX, and daughter/niece, Mozelle Simon, Wichita Falls, TX, along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other special family members and friends.
The homegoing celebration for our beloved Rosetta will be held on Saturday, November 7th, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Ward Chapel AME Church with Rev. Terry Garrett, officiating.
She will rest eternally in Booker T. Washington Cemetery. Visitation hours will be today from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Ragsdale Funeral Center.
