Mary Bell Taylor

1938 – 2009

Mary Bell Taylor, 71, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at her home in Checotah. She was born July 27, 1938 in Anadarko, OK to Cecil and Ada (Bilderback) O’Neal. After a brief marriage to Roy Cobbs, in 1960 she married Leslie Cantrell, whom she thought of as the love of her life. Leslie was tragically killed in 1967 in a construction accident. She later married Robert Taylor in 1971. She retired from Midwest City Regional Hospital after 18 years working as a housekeeper. She was a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church in Choctaw, OK. Mary enjoyed playing Bingo, visiting with her friends and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and her smile never forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents, John and Maude Bilerback; husband, Leslie Cantrell; and son-in-law Mike Rodgers. Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Brenda Wesley and fiancé’ Bryan Moon of Checotah, and Carolyn Rodgers of Oklahoma City; and one son Don Cantrell of TX; four grandchildren, Dearl McCullar, Jr., and wife Carolyn, Kristy Dawn Silver and husband Sean II, Michelle Rodgers and Rusty Rodgers; nine great-grandchildren, Brittney Silver, Sethe McCullar, Sean Silver III, Harlee McCullar, Olivia Silver, Triston McCullar, Brayden, Caden and Victoria Silver; 3 brothers Arnold Howe, Charles Howe, and Lonnie Ray Howe; 2 sisters, Joyce Rollins and Betty Dugger and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mary will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Hampton Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Ford officiating. Casket bearers will be Sean Silver II, Sean Silver III, Dearl McCullar Jr, Sethe McCullar, Bryan Moon and Dean Allison. Interment will follow services in Triplett Cemetery, Checotah, OK.
