Gladys Peters Teague

1921 - 2010






Gladys Peters Teague was born in Muskogee, OK on September 14, 1921 to Johnny and Hattie Jackson Peters. She spent her early childhood years in Taft, OK, where she received her formal education. After high school Gladys furthered her education by attending Muskogee Junior College. She was united in marriage to Mr. L.D. Teague and two sons were born to that union. Gladys made First Baptist Church in Taft, her church home where she served in many capacities. In addition to her church duties, she was a beautician, and held the position of postal clerk for many years. After her retirement she worked in the County Clerk’s offices. After the death of her beloved L.D., she moved to Texas to reside with her son, Merron.

On March 14, 2010, Gladys was called home. The family she leaves behind to cherish their memories of her are two sons, Merron Teague (Carolyn) and Charles Teague (Elgin). One sister, Juanita Woods Barnes along with five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The going home services for Gladys will be held on Saturday March 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Taft with Rev. John C. Washington officiating. She will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation for family and friends will be today from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Ragsdale Funeral Center.
