“Your sun shall no longer go down, nor shall your moon withdraw itself.
For the Lord will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning shall be ended.”
Joyce Ann (Smith) Pruett was born on September 17, 1933 in Tulia, TX. At the age of 76 years old, she passed away from this world on March 10, 2010, surrounded by love. Shortly after being diagnosed with cancer, Jesus looked down on her and said, “You have been a good, strong soldier. Though the battle was a short lived one, you gave it your all. Now is the time to come home and receive the rest and rewards you so richly deserve. Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
After the death of her beloved husband, Joyce moved back to Muskogee and lived with her daughter, Rita Oakley. Prior to that time, Joyce and her husband lived in Kiefer, Drumright, and Wagoner, OK. Joyce was a devoted and loving wife for over fifty years, when cancer overtook her beloved husband, James Mathis Pruett, Jr. After his death, Joyce lovingly spoke of the day that she would be reunited with her Prince, and now that she has passed away from this life, she is finally where she longed to be – together they are now with the King of Kings.
Joyce was also a loving Mother, Granny, Sister, and Friend. She placed God and her family above all other things in her life. She lived her life to the fullest and stood up for her family when others turned their backs on her and them. Joyce was not afraid of controversy and was fiercely protective of her children and grandchildren. She was the fist and loudest to stand up for what she believed in and was not afraid to let you know just what she thought. Joyce’s love and protectiveness was passed down to her children and their children. Life lessons taught by her will not soon be forgotten.
