June M. Morhart

1921 -2012

— June M. Morhart, 90, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, died Friday, February 10, 2012 at Eastgate Village Retirement Center.

June, the oldest of five children, was born June 4, 1921 at Clearfield, Pennsylvania, to Flora G. and John E. Turner. She spent her early years in Buffalo, New York. Shortly after her 21st birthday, she enlisted in the WACS.  She was stationed at Chanute Field for several years during which time she met Robert L. Morhart, and later married on August 17, 1945. Upon their discharge from the Army, June and her husband lived for several years in the Buffalo area. Then in the fall of 1950, they moved to Muskogee, where they lived the remainder of their lives. June was a homemaker during her daughters’ formative years, then worked 12 years as a legal secretary for R. Forney Sandlin before retiring in 1982.

June was preceded in death by her husband Robert, daughter Mary Patricia, and brother John Turner. Survivors include her daughter Susan Cook and husband Jim of Muskogee; grandsons, Robert Hernandez and wife Heather of Phoenix, AZ, Paul Hernandez and wife Nikki of Muskogee, and John Hernandez and wife Holly of Muskogee; sisters, Jean Makowski of Buffalo, NY, and Sister M. Genevieve of Rochester, NY; brother Paul Turner and wife Pat of Tonawanda, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Knipe officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Robert, Paul, and John Hernandez, R. Forney Sandlin, Joel Cousins, and M.E. Thornley, Jr. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
