Zackie R. “Zack” Hyslop

1944 - 2012

— Zackie R. “Zack” Hyslop, 68, of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012 in Muskogee.

He was born June 25, 1944 in Waldron, Arkansas to Ocie Dwight Hyslop and Carrie Lissie Taylor Hyslop, the youngest of fourteen children. Zack attended school at Vann & Ross Country Schools. He later served his country by joining the United States Army. Zack married Shirley Sanders on November 13, 1961 in Poteau, Oklahoma. They raised seven children together.

Zack was self-employed owning an auto salvage and a metal buyer for many years before his retirement in 1998.  He was known for his hospitality and kindness, especially where his grandchildren were concerned. Zack would not allow his grandchildren or great grandchildren to get spankings in his presence. He loved to trade cars, guns, and hot rods. Zack raised a big garden every year including cantaloupes, and big Black Diamond watermelons. Zack was known for being somewhat of a rebel but he also knew that he was a true miracle as God had saved him from harm many times.

Zack was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; two sisters; and one son, Anthony Shawn Hyslop.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Shirley Hyslop; daughters, Angela Scott and husband Dick of Muskogee, Lisa Jones and husband Troy of McClain, Kristina Howard and husband Jimmy of Webbers Falls, Jennifer Miller and husband Justin of Muskogee; sons, Zackie Row Jr. of Warner, Keith Hyslop and wife Tamra of Webbers Falls; sixteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Louise Ball and husband Frank, Sadie Shamblin, Lorene Blackwood, all of Porum; mother-in-law, Geneva Sanders of Warner.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
