Karyia Shaynigne Edmundson

1993 - 2012

— Karyia Shaynigne Edmundson was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma June 10th, 1993 to Shetara Edmundson Sims and Lonnie Carr, Jr.  She was beautiful, full of life kinda kid who grew up to be a person who touched everyone she came in contact with. She played volleyball, basketball and ran track. She graduated from Della Lamp High School, Kansas City, MO with the class of 2010.  She attended college for a few years, but her dream was to be a barber. Her brothers allowed her to cut their hair but after seeing their cuts, it was suggested that she find a new dream. Having professed her love for the Lord, Karyia dedicated her life to him.

She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends and her dynamic spirit and personality, along with her desire to making you smile even if the joke was on her.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Annie Faye Walker, grandfather, Lonnie Carr, Sr. and cousin, Michael Sims. The family she leaves to thank the Lord for her include her mother, Shetara Edmundson-Sims, father, Lonnie Carr, Jr., two brothers, Jacorey and Montriece, six sisters, Taniya Janiya, Maryia, Makiya, Rakiya and Lalonnie, maternal grandmother, Bonnie Kaye SIms (Cleveland), maternal grandfather, Lincoln Edmundson, paternal grandmother, Goldie Carr. Six aunts, Donna Sims (Lucc), Lamecia Anderson (Herb), Talila Carr, Herbertina Brisker,Trina Boyd (Keith), Sandra Nzurumike, eight uncles, Dwight Sims (Mollie) Jamaal Gardenhire, Michael Carr (Sherryl), Lincoln Goff, Kerry Juan Scott, Willard Oneal, Brandon and Demarion and other aunts, uncles, cousins and loved ones, including special friends, Lanita Lewis and Chasity Veal.

The homegoing service for Karyia will be held Saturday October 13th, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. M. J. Coleman as host pastor. Officiating  will be Rev. David Ragsdale Jr., pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She will be laid to eternal rest in Booker T. Washington Cemetery. Visitation hours are today from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Ragsdale Funeral Center.
