LaVon Johnson

1925 - 2012

— Funeral services for LaVon Johnson, 87, of Eustace, TX, formerly of Webbers Falls, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Webbers Falls with Reverend Greg Cox and Reverend Wendell Cox officiating. Pallbearers will be Paul Gould, Graham Swearingen, Paul Swearingen, Bob Ross, Stan Sheffield, and Lance Maxwell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Vaught Cemetery under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Webbers Falls.

LaVon was born August 13, 1925 at Webbers Falls, OK, the daughter of James Lee and Jessie Iva (Hampton) Short and died Friday, October 19, 2012 in Dallas, TX. On March 10, 1945 she married Calvin Johnson in Webbers Falls. She was a bank teller for many years and then served as Webbers Falls City Clerk. She was a member of the Webbers Falls First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Marietta Maxwell of Eustace, TX, Annetta Sanderson and husband, Forest, of Midlothian, TX, Laretta Geren and husband, Pete, of Vancouver, WA; five grandchildren, Duke Geren, Kristopher Geren, Josh Bitner, Jennifer Johnson, and Gavin Maxwell; nine great-grandchildren, Billy, Kodi, Weston, Katelyn, Aeden, Lexi, Linzi, Lilli, and Coler; sisters, LaVelle Dugger and husband, Doug, of Omaha, NE, Jimmie Short of Norman, OK; and brother, John Short and wife, Wanda, of Snyder, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calvin; and son-in-law, Mark Maxwell.

At LaVon’s request, donations may be made to the Vaught Cemetery Fund.
