Larry Donnell Lyons Sr.

1950 - 2013

— Larry Donnell Lyons Sr.,  in his 62nd season of life, departed this life on March 4, 2013, from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Larry Donnell Lyons Sr. was born on August 28, 1950 to Joe and Lillie Mae (Wauford) Lyons. He was the youngest of five children, born to the Lyons family, which resided in Summit, Oklahoma.

He graduated from Historic Manual Training High School in 1969. After his graduation in 1969 he enlisted in the US Army as a Helicopter Tech and served his first tour in Vietnam, before meeting the love of his life Patricia (Logan) Lyons and shortly after was married in a perfect union, which created four children.

He continued in the US Army, where he served in various duty stations, including (Vietnam, Korea, Germany) where he earned two purple hearts for being wounded in combat and the Army Commendation Medal. After 15 years of service, he was Honorably discharged and continued to work for the VA Hospital for 27 years, before he retired.

We remember Larry as a well-spoken man who faced life with joy and pain with the willingness to help others.

Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his brief time here on earth; his wife of 41 years, Patricia Lyons; his four children; Latasha (Williams), Louise, Latrisha (Gang) and Larry Jr. and family; 13 grand children; five great grandchildren. One brother Joe Lyons Jr. and one sister, Erma Thomas.

He lived life to the fullest and in his later years inspired others to achieve more in life than what they were given.

The Final Salute will commence on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the St. Thomas Primitive Baptist Church of Summit. Revered Earl Baker, Pastor with Rev. Charles Moore, Sr., and Reverend Clifford Beasley officiating.

Burial will follow in the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma at 12 Noon with Military Honors.

You may visit Mr. Lyons, as he slumbers at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., on Thursday from 10 AM until 6 PM.
