Hazel M. Franklin

1915 - 2013

— Hazel M. Franklin, 98, of Council Hill, Oklahoma passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 10, 2013.  She was born February 21, 1915 in Council Hill to Mack Henry Hicks and Maude Clemons Hicks.  She grew up in Council Hill where she attended school and graduated in 1933.  Hazel met and later married Earl Edward Franklin on December 24, 1933.  Hazel and Earl traveled extensively but always kept their farm in Council Hill, which was always “Home”. They were happily married for 64 years.  

Hazel was a faithful member of the Council Hill United Methodist Church.  She was very smart, extremely friendly, and made friends everywhere. Hazel was a homemaker and was very proud of her family.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl in 1998; her two sons, Samuel Ray and Robert Mack in 1964; her parents; and her eleven siblings.

Hazel is survived by her son, Earl Edward Franklin Jr. and wife, Carol of Texas; her daughters, Sandra Grace Eller and husband, Jimmy of Oktaha and Diana Lynn Gaeth and husband, Paul of Checotah; her thirteen grandchildren; her twenty-two great grandchildren; and her seven great-great grandchildren.

The family is planning a potluck dinner at noon at the community center in Council Hill followed by a memorial service for Hazel at 2:00 p.m., April 20, 2013 at the Bell Chapel in Council Hill.
