Teddy Clay “Pa” Pennington

1941 - 2013

— Ted was born on November 1, 1941 to Henry Clay and Bella Donna (Prater) Pennington.  He was the oldest of five children.

Ted proudly served in the US Army from 1958 to 1961 as an Airframe repair specialist and was attached to the Strategic Air Command.

He then met the love of his life, Sonja Cordell and married her in 1966 and they had five children.

Ted is survived by his wife, Sonja of the home; his children, Kathy (Pennington) Barnett and husband, Tommy of Fort Gibson, Gene (Pennington) Ellis and wife Shanon of Blue Springs, MO., Penny (Pennington) Baker and fiancé, Henry Slape of Muskogee, and David Pennington; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; brother, John Pennington and wife Delores of Texas; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Donna Pennington; his brothers, Wayne and Steven Pennington; his sister, Nancy Royale; and his son, Marck Pennington.

One of his proudest accomplishments was his private pilot and commercial license and instrumental rating.  He held many jobs in his life from digging ditches to wearing a shirt and tie, building boats, to being an engineer for World Com.

Ted was a devoted husband, father, and Pa.  He was a lover of the great outdoors, an avid fisherman and avid motorcyclist.  He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion as well as the road captain for the American Legion Riders.

A memorial service honoring the life of Ted will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2013 at New Hope Assembly of God Church with Pastor John Overton officiating.  Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK.
