Nancy Lou Hurd, 82, formerly of Muskogee passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in Tulsa OK. She was born October 10, 1930 to James Chester & Willie (Heard) White.
Nancy became a young widow at age 22, having lost her husband, Don Rogers to a lightning storm, and set out to raise Larry and Lynne alone. She met and married Ben Hurd, recently returned from the Korean War, and the family moved to Oklahoma City, where Dale was born, and then on to Norman. She was most proud that all three children earned college degrees. Nancy worked at a number of occupations, including census taker, bookkeeper for a jewelry firm, and office assistant for the Highway Patrol. She eventually settled in Broken Arrow to be near her family.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don Rogers, husband, Ben Hurd, daughter, Lynne Rogers, son, Dale Hurd, and 5 siblings.
