Charles Edward Berry

1952-2013

— Charles Edward Berry, 60, lifelong Checotah resident died at his home on Tuesday February 19, 2013. He was born on February 28, 1952 in Checotah to Raymond and Inez (Jacobs) Berry. Charles grew up in Checotah where he graduated from Checotah High School. Upon graduation he was drafted into the Army for active duty and served in Germany. He then joined the Army Reserves where he continued his military service. Charles returned to Checotah after his service and worked as a truck driver and carpenter for many years before retiring due to illness in 2010. As a younger man Charles loved the rodeo and was a member of the Checotah Roundup Club.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Inez Berry and uncle J.R. Jacobs. He is survived by his fiancé Judy Scott of the home; son Gordon Scott Berry and his wife Jessica; son Eddie Berry and his wife Lisa; daughter Stacey Pemberton and her husband Matt; former wife Terri Berry-Brandon; grandchildren Jessica, James, Evan, Reagan and Payton; brother Robert Berry and his wife Delores; sister Jackie Coleman; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday February 22, 2013 at Checotah Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Tim Whisenhunt officiating. Burial will follow at Council Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Scott, Bobby McDonald, Daran Koch, Matt Pemberton, Greg Christian, Matt Mann, Dean Taylor and Nick Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Mann and Roy Gene Potts.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Checotah Funeral and Cremation service.
