1924 – 2010








Imogene “Gene” Coburn (Mimi) passed away on Wednesday July 28, 2010 surrounded by her family. Gene was born to Hubert and Esther (Davis) Dingler on December 2, 1924 in Dierks, Arkansas.

She grew up in Moore, Oklahoma and attended public schools there. She married Ira Vernon Coburn on December 22, 1945. Gene was a long time resident of Muskogee and a member of Phi Sigma Alpha sorority. She worked for many years in the retail women’s clothing business and had many loyal customers from her time at Susman’s. She was a member of York Street Christian Church and the Good Shepherds Sunday School Class. Her Sunday School Class and her Sorority were both a source of friends and comfort to her.

Gene is survived by her sons, Dr. Steve Coburn and wife, Martha of Denton, Texas and Dr. Jerry Coburn and wife, Kathy of Muskogee. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kara Coburn, Kyle Coburn, Dr. Zach Coburn and wife, Jennifer, and Alex Coburn; great grandson, Max Coburn, and her sister, Meryle Dyer.

She was preceded in death by her husband Vern: sisters, Willa Mae Dingler and Beryle Almack, and granddaughter, Mallory Coburn.

A memorial service for Gene will be held at 1:00 p. m., Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the York Street Christian Church with Pastor Gene Thompson officiating.
