Gene Lee Roger

1935 - 2013

— Funeral services for Gene L. Rogers, 77, of Fort Gibson, OK, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Crescent Valley Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Parker officiating. Pallbearers will be Paul Jones, Ronnie Holuby, Terry Richie, Gary Dotson, Frank Delmedico, and Gary Sparks. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, OK, under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Fort Gibson.

Gene was born July 18, 1935 in Pasadena, CA, the son of William and Ida (Speer) Rogers and died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in Muskogee.

On April 25, 1964, Gene married Helen McDowell at Bellflower, CA.  He served his country in the Navy. Gene had lived in the area since 1971 and was a member of Crescent Valley Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, Gene had worked as a machinist and had been the General Manager at Zapata Industries.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of the home; children, William T. “Bill” Rogers of SC, Robert Rogers of FL, Jeanille Plett of CA, Dawn Prohanas of Phoenix, AZ, Glen Alan Rogers of Edmond, Richard L. Pfeifer of Grain Valley, MO, Glen Pfeifer of CO, Carla Rogers of Ft. Worth, TX, Melanie Newman of Palm Bay, FL, and Christina Birdtail of Synder, OK; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Ray Rogers and his parents.
