Ruth B. Wilson

1920 - 2012

Ruth passed away on Dec. 31, 2012. She was born on March 31, 1920 to Barney and Emma (Smith) Bryant Watts.  

At age 16, she met and later married James W. (Bill) Thompson on August 16, 1936.  To this union they had five daughters. Their life together extended 27 years when Bill passed away at age 55, on March 28, 1964.  Ruth had gone on to Nursing School, receiving her LPN degree.  She was employed at Wagoner City Hospital 12 years, then went on to work at Muskogee General Hospital, retiring in 1985 after 16 years with the V.A. Hospital.  During this time she married Guy Wilson on January 4, 1974.  Ruth enjoyed her family, cooking on holidays and working in her flowers before her extended illness.

Preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Joseph Watts; daughter, Doris Jean Larkin; granddaughter, Karla Mayfield Zimpel; sisters, Thelma Johnson and Lolita Chute; brothers, Jack and Paul Bryant and Leland Watts.

Survivors include husband, Guy of the home; daughters, Carole Bartels, Las Vegas, NV, Rosalea Mayfield, Tulsa, OK, Sharon Butler and husband Glen, Skiatook, OK and Donna Winters and husband, Billy, Paris, TX;  seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Elena Patterson, Carson WA; brother Ronald Watts, Sun City Center, FL; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank her personal caretaker, Carolyn Soap, Cornerstone Nurses of Tahlequah and Good Shepherd Hospice of Grove, OK for their loving care.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner with the Reverend Conrad Barrett officiating.  Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Interment in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner will follow.
