Bobby Dean Carrell

1944 - 2012

— Bobby Dean Carrell, 67, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 13, 2012 in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  He was born August 22, 1944 in Rolla, Missouri to Austin Edward Carrell and Velma Odessa McColgin Carrell.  Bobby proudly served his country by joining the United States Marine Corp from which he received an honorable discharge.  His first job was a cotton picker but Bobby was a man of many trades. He worked as a heavy equipment operator; worked in coal mines; and worked as a painter. Bobby’s hobbies included fishing, playing his guitar, camping, and restoring old cars, but most important, was spending time with his girls and his family.  

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Velma Carrell; brothers, Billy Carrell, Leland Carrell, Edward Carrell, and Earl Carrell.

He is survived by his daughters, Elisabeth Maddox (Jason Thompson) of Licking, MO., Brandy Nicole Carrell of Licking, MO., and Laverna Jean Douglas (Ray) of Okay, OK.; granddaughters, Jody Fulton (Randy) of Okay, OK., Alyssa Thompson of Licking, MO.; grandson, Brent Thompson, of Licking, MO.;  great granddaughter, Zoey Fulton of Okay, OK.; brothers, Ronald Carrell (Annibell) and Joe Carrell, both of Tupelo, OK.; and sister, Betty Coplen of Wynnewood, OK.

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Chaplain Lisa Sowers officiating.  Interment will follow with full military honors.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home and Crematory, 1830 North York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
