Roberta Sue Walker Johnson

1938 – 2012

Roberta was born in Muskogee on February 22, 1938 to Edna Cousins Walker and Jack Walker. She attended school at Longfellow Elementary in Muskogee and graduated from Muskogee Central High School in 1956. She also attended William Woods College and the University of Oklahoma.

Roberta married Ed in 1961 and built their lives together, raising four children, Julie, Betty, Mark and Jared. They founded J&E Corporation in 1981 and built a successful business together.

Roberta is remembered by her family as loving, caring, loyal and compassionate, always putting God first, family and friends second and herself last.

Roberta passed from her earthly life on December 15, 2012 after a brief but brave battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.  She is at peace with our Heavenly Father and her parents in heaven where she certainly was welcomed by those who have gone before her.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Jack Walker, sister, Kathryn Walker Goodall, husband, Lloyd Reed and grandson, Sam Lewis.

Roberta is survived by Ed Johnson, her husband of 51 years and her four children, Julie Johnson Lewis (Mark, husband), Betty Johnson Barnett (Mike, husband), Mark Johnson (Lauren, wife) and Jared Johnson; grandchildren, Erik Rinehart, Beth Waters, Jack Lewis, Joe Lewis, Jack Johnson, Brett Deardurff, Brooke Deardurff, and Katy

Lewis; great-grandchildren, Cody Rasmussen, Berkley Waters, Tyler Waters, Lucille Brown and Presley Rinehart; nephews, Gary Goodall and Ron Goodall; niece, Jean Goodall; cousins, Sally Cousins Elliott and Joel Cousins.

A celebration of Roberta’s life will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Muskogee.  Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Erik Rinehart, Jack Lewis, Joe Lewis and Jack Johnson.

Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
