Jackey Lyle Bedford

1944 - 2011

— Jackey Lyle Bedford was born on April 20, 1944, in Eufaula, Oklahoma to Thomas A. and Bertha L. (Guinn) Bedford. He was baptized at an early age at Fame, Oklahoma. He attended Fame and Stidham Schools graduating from Stidham High School in May 1962. While attending Connors College, he played baseball and played baseball in Muskogee with the American Legion. Jackey played baseball for the San Francisco Giants training camp for two summers while in college. He served in the U.S. Army from June 15, 1965 to June 1, 1967. He was married to Ramona J. Phillips on June 7,1969, at Lenna, Oklahoma.  He worked for many years on construction projects, pipelining, and for the U.S. Post Office. He worked for the Army Ammunition Plant from June 1989 until his death.

Jackey was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Thomas L., Joseph Roy, and Clifford Lee Bedford, his sisters, Johnnie Mae Kirkpatrick, Betty Rodgers, Patsy Wilson, and Sharon Bedford, his father-in-law, Rev. Daniel Phillips, Jr., his brother-in-law, Daniel D. Deere, his nieces Chana D. Loma, and Kamdyn D. Middleton. He is survived by his wife, Ramona of Eufaula, brother, Jimmie Bedford of Coweta, brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Sandy Bedford of Broken Arrow, brother and sister-in-law, Orville and Pauline of Sacramento, California, sister, Billie Brannon of Salinas, California, brother-in-law and sister, Jackie and Edith Blevins of Tulsa, sister, Joella Shelley of Seminole, sisters-in-law, Jean Bedford and Dorothy Kirkpatrick, mother-in-law, Mina Phillips, sister-in-law Susie Deere, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Jena Loma, sister-in-law, Amanda Middleton, and a host of relatives.

Honorary pallbearers are Larry Jennings, Fred Bedford, Wayne Cook, Lea Ann Cook, Stanley Rippy, Lewis Bedford, Jerry Bedford, Steve Bedford, Ben Brown, Eldon Northcutt, Thomas McIntosh, Danny Edwards, Steve Hooten, Phillip McIntosh and Nick Pendley.  

Pallbearers are Richmon Colbert, William Middleton, Michael Deere, Daniel Deere, Jesse Anderson and Stoney Wilson.  

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Kenneth Loma and Clifford Wayne Anna officiating.  Burial will follow at Bower Cemetery under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory.  Memorial contributions may be made to the New Arbor Indian Baptist Church, P.O. Box 862, Eufaula, Ok 74432 and the American Cancer Society.
