Tommy Lee Wilson

1940 -2012

Tommy Lee Wilson was born July 26, 1940 in Hulbert, OK to Robert and Thelma (Boling) Wilson. He passed away on August 17, 2012 in Eufaula, OK at the age of 72.

Tom moved to Boynton, OK at a young age and graduated from high school there. Tom’s young adult life involved working in an auto parts store in Muskogee and owning auto parts stores in Ft. Gibson and Morris. He later had a grocery store in Ft. Gibson. He began working at OG&E in 1973 as a shift supervisor and retired in 1994. In 1979 he bought his first limousin cattle and spent the next 27 years in the limousin cattle business.

One of his favorite pastimes was watching sporting events, especially high school basketball. He also participated in playing basketball and softball. Fishing and golfing were some of his favorite activities, as well. He treasured the quail hunts and fishing trips with his long time friend, Jerry Walker.

Tom will be remembered for his infectious smile and for his sense of humor. He was a good story teller and shared many experiences with family and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brothers J. C. & Carl Wayne and sister Hazel Graves. Tom is survived by his wife, Doretta, sons Jimmy, of Muskogee, Tommy and wife Lisa of Ft. Gibson, Barry and wife Samantha of Edmond, step-son Steve and Kim Stotts of Muskogee, and step-daughter Diane and Scott Yarnell of Tulsa. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tanner, Tayler, Rachel, Elizabeth and Grace Wilson, Brooke Londagin, Addy Yarnell, Lauren and Sarah Stotts. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, brothers Bob and Bonnie Wilson of Bristow, Bill and Pat Wilson of Haskell, sisters Juanita and Red Myers of Boynton, Carolyn and Ted Herrman of Claremore, brother-in-law Marion Graves of Muskogee, and sister-in-law Pauline Wilson of Okmulgee. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Bennett and Judy Conditt of Bennington, Rick and Cheryl Conditt of Utica, and sister-in-law Linda and Phil Ridings of Ft. Worth as well as many nieces and nephews.

Tom’s church homes have been Southeast Baptist Church of Muskogee, where he served as a deacon, First Baptist Church of Ft. Gibson, Elm Grove Baptist in Council Hill and he is currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Checotah.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the building fund of the First Baptist Church of Checotah.

Pallbearers are Jerry Walker, Jerry David Walker, Gary Walker, Phil Gross, Mike Moore and Tanner Wilson.  Honorary pallbearers are Joe Cook, John Harrison, Walter Allmond and his Sunday School class.

Services will be at the First Baptist Church of Checotah on Monday, August 20th at 2:00 p.m. with Steve Dennis and Marion Graves officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Checotah Funeral Services.
