Robert Lee (Bob) Graham

1927 - 2013

— Bob Graham, age 85 of Muskogee, Oklahoma was born March 31, 1927 in Boynton, OK to Luther and Corrine E. (Myers) Graham. Bob departed this world Monday, February 11, 2013 at the V.A. Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  

His family moved to Muskogee when his father opened Graham Shoe Shop. Bob graduated from Muskogee Central High School in 1945.  He met his wife Mae Hill at Honor Heights UMC. He married Anna Mae Hill on November 7, 1945 in Muskogee, OK. Bob served his country by enlisting in 1945. He was honorably discharged as Sergeant from the 1385th AAF Base Unit at Greenland Base Command and finished serving in the Air Force Reserve until 1952. He was a Master Carpenter working in residential and light industrial construction. Early in his career he worked for Robert Tyree Construction. He later worked for Jim Wilson Construction and spent a few years as a self-employed contractor. Bob worked for Manhattan Construction Co. and later retired from Love Bottling Co. More recently Bob retired from a 29 year career as an independent paper carrier for the Muskogee Phoenix.was a member of Honor Heights United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher and led the MYF. bob loved youth and coached boys basketball and baseball. He was a Boy Scout Leader. Bob was a consummate family man. When he fished, bowled, camped out or picnicked it was always with family. He was well loved by his extended family and will be missed by all.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Anna Mae (Hill) Graham. He is survived by one son; Bruce Wayne Graham and wife Elaine of Little Rock, Arkansas. Two daughters; Suzanne Elizabeth Ruby and husband Clarence of Sperry, Oklahoma and Nancy Elaine Graham of Muskogee. Three grandchildren; Bryan Graham, Jason and Adrian Ruby. Four great grandchildren; Brayden Graham, Jacob, Cadel and Aaron Ruby. Numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

 Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 22nd, 2013 at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.

 In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the United Methodist Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 999 Gore, OK 74435, the Boy Scouts of America or The Indian Nation Council of Boy Scouts 4295 S. Garnett Rd. Tulsa, OK 74149 or the Bedouin Shrine Temple 201 S. 6th St. Muskogee, OK 74401.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Shipman’s Muskogee Cremation & Funeral Service.
