Robert “Benny” Hutchison

1943 - 2013

— Robert “Benny” Hutchinson, 69, of Braggs, died Thursday, January 17, 2013.  Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Ben and Coweta (Kennedy) Hutchinson on November 12, 1943.

Benny was a master at everything he did. He owned and operated Master Machine Shop which is located on Machine Shop Road in Braggs. He was a song and music writer as well as a decorator and sign painter. Everything he did was done with perfection. He was a man of great accomplishments. One of his songs, “Love of My Life,” hit eighth place on the Nashville music charts. He collected and restored vintage M&M tractors. He loved to fish, go to garage sales and tractor shows.

Benny had many lifelong friends. He was always there for those who needed him. He loved to tease and had a nickname for almost everyone. He was an optimist and saw the best in everyone and everything.  His wisdom, smiles, humor and knowledge will be so missed.

Benny was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack D. Hutchinson and Johnny “Skunk” Hutchinson.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Hutchinson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Juston and Leslie Hutchinson and Jason and Krystal Hutchinson; six grandchildren who were the joy and pride of his world, Keith, Dylan “Big Boy”, Matthew, Dalton, Ashlyn “Red” and Natalie “Nats”. Other survivors are one sister, Carolyn “Bub”; seven sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and lifelong friends and many cousins. Benny, we love you and will always miss you.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2013 at Fosters’ Ivory Chapel with Isaac Slape and Steve Spyres officiating. Interment will follow in South Bethel Cemetery in Braggs. Pallbearers will be Keith Hutchinson, Matthew Hutchinson, Dylan Hutchinson, Dalton Hutchinson, Terry Hutchens, Jimmy Young, William Boyd Johnson and Richard Tidmore. There will be a reception at the Hutchinson’s residence following the services.
