Dustin Scott Givens

1973 - 2013

Oswego, New York is where the life began for Dustin Scott Givens on June 6, 1973 from the union of Malinda Ann Parks and Clarence Franklin Givens, Jr.

Dustin was raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where he attended Cherokee Elementary, West Junior High and Muskogee High School, graduating with the Proud Class of 1991. It was during this special time in his life that he established lifelong, lasting friendships with his classmates.

After high school, he began working as a student employee at Fort Howard/Georgia Pacific and remained a dedicated employee, where he was an Environmental Engineer. He attended Central State [now U.C.O.] University in Edmond, Oklahoma, before completing his Bachelor Degree in Environmental Management at Northeastern State University at Tahlequah, in 1995.

During the summer after his first year of college, he met the love of his life, Nikya P. Brooks and this meeting led to Love and Holy Matrimony. Their love was blessed with 3 children. Dustin was a loyal and dedicated Husband, Father, Son, Brother and friend.

He loved bass fishing and remained physically fit at Champion Fitness and cherished the fun times with his friends from work.

After 39 seasons of life, Dustin S. Givens "Finished Early" on Saturday evening, January 5, 2013 in Muskogee. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Billie M. and Walter L. Parks, Sr.

Remaining to lament his passing, his devoted wife, Nikya; his loving children, Dustin Scott [D.J.} Givens, Jr., Aaron Dominic Givens and Tiana Alyse Givens;  his parents, Malinda Ann Parks and Clarence Franklin Givens, Jr.; mother and father-in-law, Claudie and Mignon Brooks; his siblings, Allando Ousley, Jerome Givens [Tamara], LaRon Givens [Cathryn], Aundrea Givens Vann [Johnsey], all of Dallas, TX and Tamika McBath Hill, Bakersfield, CA; his grandparents, Lillian B. and Clarence F. Givens, Sr.;  a host of uncles and aunts, other relatives and friends,

The Hour of Remembrance will be shared on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in the Boulevard Christian Church.  Pastor James McCracken is the gracious host and Reverend Gary Hall, Sr., Pastor of Mount Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery.

You may visit Mr. Givens, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., on Friday from 10:00 A.Ma until 7:00 P.M. and on Saturday at the Church from 11:30 A.M. until 12:30 PM. 

Friends are asked to assemble by 12:45 to receive the family. The casket will not be opened at the conclusion of the service.
