Stella Mae Pippin

1933 - 2013

— Stella Mae Pippin, 79 year old Henryetta native, passed away in the early morning hours on Thursday, January 3, 2013. Stella was born Saturday, April 15, 1933 to Oscar and Walsie (Daniels) Taylor in Henryetta, Oklahoma. She attended Henryetta schools and graduated in 1950.  Stella was courted by and fell in love with the handsome Cal Jr. Pippin, accepting his hand in marriage on Monday, May 26, 1950 in Arkansas. She became a wonderful homemaker and loving mother of twin daughters. As a family they moved to Checotah in 1958. She went to work at White Stag beginning in 1961 until 1977 when she retired to care for aging parents and her growing grandchildren. Stella was a member of the First Baptist Church of Checotah. Her deepest pleasures in life were her grandchildren, her love for baking cookies and her peaceful walks. She is preceded in death by her parents, her best friend and husband Cal of 62 years, two brothers and three sisters. She is lovingly survived by daughters Linda Fairchilds and her husband Wayne, Brenda Woodall and her husband Kenneth all of Checotah; grandchildren Chad Wood and his wife Tonya, Becky Stecker, Wendy Spatz and her  husband Tony, Jeff Fairchilds and his wife Sharon, Shawn Wooten and his wife Elisha. She is also survived by her brother John Taylor and his wife Hazel; 13 great grandchildren; other extended family and a host of community and church friends. Viewing for Stella will be 10 AM to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 5-7 PM on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Garrett Family Funeral Home. Funeral services for Stella will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, January 5, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Checotah with Reverend Steve Dennis officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Sonora Cemetery in Henryetta under the personal direction of John Garrett. Chad Wood, Jeff Fairchilds, Shawn Wooten, Tony Spatz, Garrett Stecker and Dan Artussee are serving as Casket Bearers.
