Funeral services for Alvin C. Smith, 82, of Muskogee, OK, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Chandler Road Church of Church of Christ in Muskogee with Donnie Branscum officiating. Burial will be in Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was born August 20, 1929 at Hulbert, OK, the son of Stillie and Annie “Jenkins” Smith and died Saturday, August 11, 2012 in Muskogee.
Mr. Smith served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea for three years during the Korean Conflict where he received the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge and two Bronze Stars. He was a Mail Supervisor for the VA Regional Office in Muskogee.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Sadie M. Smith in 1963 and his second wife Sharron Smith in 2009, also his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his children, Donna and her husband Mark Carson of Muskogee, Lynn and wife Brenda Smith of Tuttle, two brothers, Ralph and wife Minnie Smith of Broken Arrow and Troy Smith of Muskogee, three sisters, Pauline Welch of California, Rose Vanslyke of Texas and Laura Reschly of Tahlequah, four grandchildren two step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
