Gilberta Robinson

1919 - 2012

— Eva Gilberta Robinson was born in Muskogee on August 10, 1919 to Cleo and Emma Smith. She left this world on November 1, 2012.

She began her working career at the Baptist Hospital in Muskogee where she met Floyd Edmond Robinson. On July 27, 1939 they began their life together. Gilberta spent her entire life in Muskogee working for the DHS and later State Soil Conservation Service until her retirement. She lived her life for God, her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Although she had a successful career, to her, her greatest accomplishments were her two sons, Floyd Edmond Jr. and Jerry Thomas. They in turn blessed her with 6 grandchildren. To her family, she was “the little dynamo with the twinkle in her eyes.” She always made everyone feel special; grandchildren treasured their time spent with her and never wanted to leave her or the farm.

On June 25, 1999 she lost her cherished love, Floyd; after almost 60 years of marriage. She and Floyd raised their family in the Christian Church and were founding members of the Muskogee Christian Church. After Floyd’s passing, Gilberta began attending Southeast Baptist Church until she entered Eastgate Village. Even though her eyesight was failing and she suffered the loss of short term memory, she felt blessed and continued her faith and love of family. Her family will sorely miss her. The family is very grateful to the Eastgate Village staff and her special caregiver, Louise Howard.

Gilberta was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Emma, her husband, Floyd, two brothers, George and Earl Smith and one sister, Bonnie Ruth. She is survived by her sister Faye Burleigh of Wichita Falls, TX, sister-in-law Evelyn Smith of Oklahoma City, sister-in-law Jo Ann Smith of Muskogee, and one brother Ray Smith from Oklahoma City; two sons, Ed (Mary) from Muskogee and Jerry (Phyllis) from Lexington, KY; six grandchildren, Bret Robinson, Oklahoma City, Bart Robinson (Lisa), Albany NY, Kelly Robinson, Muskogee, Travis (Jennifer) and Jeremy Robinson, Lexington, KY and Mandy Robinson-Fry (Curt), San Clemente, CA and 13 great grandchildren.

The funeral service for Gilberta will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Bradley Belltower Chapel. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Bradley Funeral Service. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.bradleyfuneralservice.com
