Suenell Wimer Smith

1930 – 2013

— Suenell Wimer Smith, 82, of Muskogee, died Friday, February 1, 2013 at Eastgate Village Health Care Center.  She was born in Muskogee on June 29, 1930 to Nell and Treve Wimer.

Suenell attended Muskogee Central High school where she met her future husband, Phillip Smith.  She continued her education at Oklahoma State University where she was elected Dairy Princess and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority.  Later, she earned a Masters degree in Education from Northeastern State University and worked as a speech therapist in the Muskogee School system.

She was a devoted and loving mother to her son, Bill.  Suenell was a joy for all to know as her good friends at Eastgate Village and First Methodist Church will attest.  She is survived by Bill and his wife Janet Thomas, their two children, Phillip and Siobhan, Phillip’s wife, Heather, and a great grandchild, Trevelin.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Fosters’ Ivory Chapel with Rev. Cindy Culver officiating.  Interment will follow in Fort Gibson National Cemetery where she will be buried by her husband, Phillip Corbet Smith.
